1. Your Client Isn't Cleaning Their Lashes

This is by far the most common cause of poor retention.

Natural oils, makeup, SPF and skincare products build up around the lash line every day. If lashes aren't properly cleansed, your adhesive is bonding to residue instead of the natural lash.

Encourage every client to cleanse their lashes daily with a quality lash cleanser. Not only will retention improve, but healthier lashes also mean better long-term results.

2. Humidity and Temperature Have Changed

Your adhesive performs best within a specific humidity and temperature range.

If your room becomes warmer or more humid than usual, your glue can cure too quickly. If it's too cold or dry, it may cure too slowly.

Keeping a hygrometer in your lash room helps you monitor your environment so your adhesive performs consistently.

3. Prep Matters More Than You Think

Even clean-looking lashes can still have invisible oils or residue.

A proper preparation routine creates the ideal surface for your adhesive to bond. Taking an extra minute during prep can make a noticeable difference to retention.
